About Abé Herman
After a 39-year career as an art glazier, Abé Herman devoted himself to creating unique bronze sculptures.
Now working intensively as a sculptor, he exhibits in Belgium and abroad. Ballet and animals are the subjects he most enjoys exploring. Classical ballet, the oldest form of ballet, is a world in which he fully immerses himself and continually searches for inspiration. His work considers many aspects of this dance form, including clothing, masks, basic positions and steps, dancing with a partner and unusual poses.
His works invite viewers into the world of ballet, not only to change the way we look at it, but also to celebrate the demanding yet graceful and fragile life of its performers. His work combines elegance and strength with fine detail, while retaining the raw, patinated surface of bronze.
