Glass art

Pejo is the Belgian glass-art duo Peter Cnudde and Joke De Graeve.
A Belgian artist couple.
Partners in both life and art, Peter Cnudde and Joke De Graeve found their shared direction in the world of glass art. The source profile describes one partner as a graduate master in stained glass and fusion techniques and Peter as an internationally recognised designer. Together they combine their practical skills and creative thinking to produce contemporary glass art.
They began by creating modern stained-glass works with a three-dimensional quality introduced through perspective. Because glass needs light, they mounted the works in frames with LED lighting so that the pieces can be displayed anywhere while retaining the same sense of brilliance as glass placed directly in front of a window.
They then moved into glass fusion, starting with smaller abstract pieces mounted in reclaimed wood and developing towards larger figurative glass works. Experimentation with new materials and techniques led to entirely new scenes in which viewers are invited to use their imagination to perceive colour within works that may initially appear black and white. The natural reflections in the glass help guide that experience.
Their newest creations are made from broken glass fused into realistic scenes, portraits, sporting subjects and animals, or used to interpret a book or song.
The strength of Pejo lies not only in the exclusivity of the work, but also in the fact that every piece is created together as an artistic couple.
